A Guide to Wiccan Protection Spells and Making a Witch's Bottle
There are many different types of Wiccan magic, including protection magic. Protection spells can be used to physically protect us, our loved ones or our property. Protection spells can also be used to spiritually and/or mentally protect us.
Deep breathing and visualization are some of the most important skills you can build for use in protection spells. If you are in a situation that requires constant protection, deep breathing and visualization can be utilized on a daily basis to build a strong aura of protection around you. These methods can be used not only to protect you from physical harm but also spiritual and psychic attacks.
Talismans and amulets are another useful tool for protection spells. Amulets have been used for centuries to dissuade negative energy. Mirrors are also items of great merit when it comes to protection spells. They can reflect negative and harmful energies that may threaten us in any situation. Hanging small mirrors in a bush or tree near the entrance to your home is a wonderful deterrent against harmful energies. If you know the direction in which the negativity is coming from, hanging a mirror in your home towards that direction can deflect the harm.
Wind chimes and bells are other tools that can be used in protection spells. The sound of chimes or bells is thought to frighten away harmful spirits or those with ill intent. The positive, soothing sounds given off by wind chimes can affect negative energies, thus making them strong in protection spells and magic.
Incense is also very useful in protection spells. The smoke that is a result of burning incense causes positive vibrations. This will help boost protection spells and magic by discouraging harmful and negative energy.
The pentagram which graces many a Wiccan home and altar is also a protective symbol. Wearing a pentagram will bring you protection or you can use the symbol in protection spells. The pentagram represents the life force and thus wards against all negativity.
To cleanse and protect a home, try sprinkling every corner of every room and closet with salted water and then censing it with burning incense. You may wish to call upon the God and Goddess while doing this to further strengthen the spell.
There are a plethora of protection spells out there. You can use one of the many published protection spells or create one of your own based on the information described above. Simply put some words with any of the ritual actions or symbols described above and you'll have very powerful protection spells suited to your own personal needs.
If you are looking for an all-purpose protection spell for your person, I would recommend making a witch's bottle. This object has been used for protection by witches for many, many years. The witch's bottle protection spell will protect you from any negativity directed towards you and deflect the negativity back to its sender.
To make a Witch's bottle, take a small jar with a screw on lid and fill it half full with broken glass, broken mirror, rusty nails, needles, razor blades, etc. Anything sharp and/or jagged will work fine so use what is available to you. Then, urinate into the jar to fill it. This works to personalize the jar and what is inside of it. Don't be afraid of this step. You will be burying it in the ground, not displaying a jar of urine in your living room. If you are a woman, the witch's jar will be even more effective if you are able to add some of your menstrual blood.
Next, screw the lid back on the jar and seal it well with wax or tape. Now bury the jar at least twelve inches deep in a place where it will not be disturbed and preferably on your property. If you are unable to bury it on your property then go somewhere isolated and bury the jar. This is one of the most effective personal protection spells and will work for you as long as the jar is in tact and in place.
