How To Consecrate Wiccan Tools
Before you begin working magic or performing rituals with your tools, it is necessary to perform a tool consecration ritual. This simple Wiccan tool consecration, written by me, will purify your new working tools and prepare them for use in ritual.
The two items that are used to in the tool consecration are salt and water. There is always a dish of both salt and water present on the Wiccan altar for use in consecration rituals of all kinds. In addition to the salt and water, incense and a candle are required for tool consecration. You then have all four elements represented; the salt represents earth, the water represents water (of course), the incense is for air and the candle for fire.
To perform a Wiccan tool consecration, cast a circle as you normally would. Then, mix the salt and water. While you are mixing the two ask the God and Goddess to purify the salt and water, making them fit to purify and cleanse your tools. You can ask this in your own words or use a written tool consecration ritual that you can read or memorize. At the end of this article, I will give a simple Wiccan tool consecration ritual that may be used or modified to fit your needs.
After you have blessed the salt and water, sprinkle the tool with the salt water and be sure to cover all sides of it. It may be easier to dip your finger into the salt water and rub the object than to sprinkle it. As you are rubbing or sprinkling, visualize any negative energy leaving the tool and being replaced with positive energy.
Next, hold the tool in the smoke of the incense and turn it so that all sides are censed. Visualize the positive energy being sealed into the tool. Then, move the tool through the flame of the candle, still visualizing the positive energy encompassing the object.
After you have consecrated the object by all four elements, ask the God and Goddess to bless the tool and help it work for and with you. Now that you've completed the tool consecration, wrap the tool in a piece of clean, white linen and put it away until you are ready to use it. You may also set it on your altar if it is a permanent altar and the tool will not be disturbed by anyone else.
Make sure you never let anyone else handle your ritual tools. They are now infused with your energy and consecrated do that all negativity has been removed from them. If anyone else is allowed to touch them, they will need to be consecrated again.
A Simple Wiccan Tool Consecration Ritual
On the altar should be present the pentacle or a plate of earth, incense and incense holder, a red candle with holder, candles or other symbols to represent the God and Goddess, a small dish of water and a small dish of salt.
1.) Setup the altar and cast the circle.
2.) Invoke the God and Goddess. If you are using candles to represent the deities, light them as you say the words of the invocation.
3.) Light the incense and red candle.
4.) Place the tool on the pentacle or plate of earth.
5.) Take a pinch of the salt and put it into the dish of water. Stir with your finger while saying words such as these:
"O Great God and Goddess, bless this salt and water as they combine. May they be fit to cleanse and purify within the sacred circle."
6.) Dip your finger into the salt water and rub the tool with your finger, making sure to rub all sides of the tool. Visualize all negativity being blasted away from the tool and positive energy replacing it. Say words such as these:
"Water and Earth, with your powers combined, bless this (name of tool) and purify it so that it is fit to use in the sacred circle."
7.) Move the tool through the smoke of the incense, making sure all parts are censed. Again, visualize the negative energies being removed, replaced by positive energy. Say words such as these:
"Element of Air, bless this (name of tool) and purify it so that it is fit to use in the sacred circle."
8.) Move the tool through the candle flame, visualizing the positive energy being sealed in. Say words such as these:
"Fire of life, bless this (name of tool) and purify it so that it is fit to use in the sacred circle."
9.) Hold the tool aloft and say words such as these:
"O Great God and Goddess, may this tool be blessed by the power of the elements and the divine. Help it to work with me and for me within the sacred circle. So mote it be!"
10.) Consecrate any other tools in the same manner before finishing the rite.
11.) Perform a grounding rite, such as the cakes and wine ritual.
12.) Thank the God and Goddess for their attention.
13.) Open the circle.
Now your Wiccan tool consecration ritual is finished! Blessed be!
