Pagan/Wiccan Fashion: Find Your Look

Many movies and tv shows portray the Witch/Wiccan too always be wearing black and Gothic attire. This is a common misrepresentation of the Witch/Wiccan that is portrayed to give that scary or mysterious feel that only helps in the building of mistrust between the Witch/Wiccan and other societies. Witches/Wiccans are not evil or good. They are just a group of people like any other. Giving into the stereo typing isn't going to help matters.
The colors that are worn by the Witch/Wiccan are worn to represent what she/he wishes to happen. Normally you want to have a good idea of your desires for what you want to happen that day, week, or month, and dress accordingly:

Black represents reversing, protection, banishing, binding, absorbing, endings, justice, and endings. Black is supposed to be used if you want to go unnoticed. In this day and age-you really don't go as unnoticed as you used to with all the stereo typing going on with the movies and tv shows that have no real basis of truth in them that I know of. If you don't want people pointing fingers and stereo typing you from some stupid movie/show he/she has seen, I suggest wearing white. If you like being stereo-typed/feared/looking mysterious, then fine, wear black.

White represents spirituality purity, wholeness, the goddess, balance, protection, healing, raising vibrations. White is also associated with the Moon and female energy. The color white is a combination of all colors. It be used for practically any purpose. The Witch/Wiccan will normally use white in replace of other colors like red, blue, purple, green, brown, etc that he/she can't manage to get her/his hands on at the time. They will also use this color to represent spiritual purity, for the Goddess, or their own one-ness with the Universe.

Yellow represents intellect, concentration, creativity, inspiration, thinking, memory, learning, communication, new beginnings, logic, and the mind in general. Its corresponding day is Sunday. It represents Air and the East.

Red represents strength, health, energy, power, the will, attracting power, lust, conquer fears, courage, survival, sex, passion and corresponding day is Tuesdays. It represents fire and the South.

Blue represents truth, peace, protection, calm, creativity, soothing, cooling, bliss, spiritual well being, healing, and truth. Its corresponding day is Mondays. Blue has a female energy to it. It is commonly associated with the Moon, Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter. It represents water

and the West.

Green represents money, business, fertility, good fortune, growth, abundance, healing, and success. Green has both Male and Female energies so it is a very balanced color. It is associated with Venus and Mercury. Its corresponding day is Wednesday. It represents earth and the North.

Pink represents love, friendship, harmony, affection, tenderness, spiritual love, caring, loving yourself, healing emotions, good will and corresponding day is Friday.

Silver and Crystals represent emotional healing, nurturing, calming, fertility Its corresponding day is Saturday.

Orange represents quick changes, luck, attracting positive energy, energy building, fun, and energy for goals. The color Orange is a combination of Yellow and Red, therefore both energies are present with less intensity.

Purple represents the spirit, spirituality, luck, protection, wisdom, understanding life's mysteries, expansion, knowledge, reaching your higher self and highest potentials. Its corresponding day is Thursday.

Brown represents earth, stability, solid foundations, study, healing the earth, material needs. It is also associated with the hearth and home.

Silver and Crystals represent emotional healing, nurturing, calming, fertility Its corresponding day is Saturday.

All in all, if you aren't performing a ritual I say it is up to you what you wear, and if your want a specific outcome from that day, you might want to pick your colors carefully so as to coincide with what you want to happen. I would also take into account if you want people to stare or not, at what you wear. I personally don't care if they stare or not, and I love teaching others about who the real me really is by giving them a tour of my alter and its wears. I like the mysterious gothic look although I don't wear it as much as I once did. Also, wearing black gothic garbs, gives me more reason to use that old phrase, "Didn't your mother teach you it was impolite to stare."

After all, I am my own person, you should be too. I'm a Universalist and as such I like to incorporate a bit of all the religions into my daily life as well as I can...Wicca included.
