Witchcraft as a Reality
Witchcraft is one word that many people have an opinion on. One of the most popular questions is if it is real or imagined. There are many who say that it is not real, however, people that practice witchcraft are becoming more open with their craft and slowly the number of people who believe in it is growing. Personally, if I were asked if witchcraft was real or not, my answer would be 'yes'. The answer to that question lies somewhere in the gray area of understanding.
Most people who have never taken the time to understand the basics of the craft will believe that the magic done on television shows or in movies is what is really supposed to happen. Anyone in their right mind would know that no matter how hard they try, it is physically impossible to walk through a wall. Unless there is a saw or sledgehammer of some sort involved, both witches and non-witches alike know that there are some things that cannot be done.
Witchcraft is more of a belief system that one uses to direct energy to accomplish certain goals. A wonderful way of explaining this is quantum physics. This might aid in the understanding of the ways that the craft is real. In the movie, "What the Bleep Do We Know," there is a scene where the main character attends a discussion where they performed an experiment to see if the power of the human mind, such as positive and negative thoughts, would have an effect on the molecular structure of the water. Some amazing pictures were shown to prove that it is possible for the human mind to change the structure of water by directing positive or negative energy towards it. It couldn't be seen with the naked eye, but under a microscope, the physical changes could easily be seen.
In this aspect, witchcraft is much like this. Deities are used to direct the energy of the human mind towards a certain goal. The spell or ritual is performed to assist in manifesting the outcome. I see these things as a way to believe in yourself so much that what is wanted, will be received. It's not necessarily because something amazing or completely outlandish is happening, like in the movies. It's because the witch put so much belief into his or herself, that the accomplished the task at hand.
Witchcraft is very real to many people because they have the understanding that they cannot do things such as walk through walls, but if you have enough belief in yourself, many things can be done. It's all basic quantum physics, and it's very hard to dispute the scientific truth that you can do whatever you put your mind to.
